UNICA 520 Surgical Light

Unica 520 is the only surgical light on the market to implement a Double Reflection technology, an improved version of the indirect light technology, patented in 2017 after several years of research.

The main benefit of double reflection is the complete absence of glare, so you can just look at the light at any time without experiencing any fatigue or black spots: this makes the lamp safer for both the eyes of the surgeon and the life of the patient, being glare the main cause of failure during procedures.

Another benefit of the double reflection technology is that the light emitting surface is 100% of the reflector: because of this reason, the shadow suppression effect will be maximized, and you will always be guaranteed to have light on the field.

Unica 520 has been developed to protect the eyes of the surgeon. To follow this principle, both direct and indirect glare are eliminated.

It’s for this reason our Unica 520 Surgical Light also implements a compensation area: a ring of light with reduced intensity (8,000 Lux max) added around the central brighter one (160,000 Lux max) guarantees a smooth transition from a very bright area to a darker one, and vice versa.

A too harsh contrast can be dangerous and harmful for our eyes!

Unica doesn’t use any sensor technology: the reflector and the LEDs are already chosen and developed to guarantee a perfect shadow suppression. Sensor technology makes it so that the LEDs covered by the surgeon will emit less light, while all the others will power up to compensate.

Rimsa’s products don’t use any sensor technology, since sensors will affect LEDs lifespan differently and will require maintenance, which over time translates to costs. Additionally, this technology increases the number of electrical components on the PCB, which implies a greater need for heat dissipation and higher chances of failure.

Unica 520 Surgical Light is a very easy product, always ready to go! In order to enhance this fact, we have developed a cone of light (70-140 cm from the reflector) which is always on focus so that you can move the lamp according to your needs and go back to work immediately. On the sterilizable handle there is a guide that will get you to two touch buttons to change the light intensity.

Thanks to the materials chosen for the PCB – aluminium, copper and ceramic – the cupola is always cold and the LEDs lifespan is way over 60.000 hours of usage.
Being the heat dissipation this high, Unica is perfectly compatible with laminar air flow.

Rimsa is the only company to develop its own arm structures: once again, we choose aluminium, to assure easy and stable movements.

Regarding technical properties and what you may need from a surgical lamp, Unica got you all covered. Through the touch keyboard, it is possible to adjust the following parameters:

    • Diameter
    • Light intensity adjustment in 11 steps, from 25% to 100% intensity (max. 160,000 Lux)
    • 7 colour temperatures, from 3800 to 5000 K
    • Endoscopy light
    • Courtesy light: an LED module on top of the dome to diffuse a soft blue light in the operating theatre
